It’s just his culture!
Stop being a bigot!
A court has heard an Afghan national charged with a sexual assault on a teenage girl in Limerick attempted to kiss her and grab her, before she kicked him and ran away.
The 19 year-old, with an address on the East side of Limerick City, has pleaded guilty to the offence, which occurred in the same area of the city on the 22nd of Feburary last.
The defendant appeared at Limerick District Court, accompanied by an interpreter.
Sergeant John Moloney said the 17 year-old girl was on her way home from a friend’s after school sometime after 9pm on the date in question, when the defendant walked up beside her and began speaking to her.
The court heard she couldn’t understand his poor English…he then continued to follow her, putting his arm around her and holding her hand tightly, before attempting to kiss her.
Sergeant Moloney told the court the 19 year-old sexually assaulted her, before the injured party pushed him away, shouted “Let me go”, then kicked him in the right leg and ran away.
