A Louisville man was arrested and charged with manslaughter Monday in connection with the death of a Thorntons gas station clerk following a Thanksgiving night robbery in Oldham County, according to police.
Terry D. Larue, 55, was arrested about 7 p.m. Monday in the 1900 block of Crums Lane on an Oldham County warrant, according to the Oldham County Police Department.
Larue was identified as one of the two individuals involved in the Nov. 28 robbery of a Thorntons at 13302 U.S. Highway 42 in Prospect and as the driver of the vehicle that hit employee Ralph Shain while fleeing the parking lot, police said.
The two men had robbed the store of cigarettes, according to Oldham County police.
Shain, 68, of Louisville, was taken to a hospital to receive treatment for his injuries suffered during the robbery but died on Dec. 5.
Police said last week that Shain’s official cause of death was still pending.
Oldham County detectives worked with the Louisville Metro Police Department’s Ninth Mobile Unit and acted on tips to identify Larue, according to a news release.
LMPD’s Ninth Mobile Unit was able to locate and arrest Larue on Monday evening, according to Oldham County police.
The search for the second individual involved in the robbery is ongoing, according to police.
Larue is facing charges of first-degree manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid, with additional charges pending, according to police.
