It is absolutely insane that when you Google “Sri Lanka bombing,” no Western media outlet has the word “Muslim” in their headline.
According to the Western media, we have a situation where a “local group” is responsible for bombing “Easter Worshippers.”
In fact, even the most objective news sources bury the fact that it is Moslems way down in the article.
The Associated Press puts it in the fourth paragraph, and doesn’t even mention the fact that the Sri Lankan government already said Moslems did it. They act like it’s a possible theory.
As a state of emergency took effect Tuesday giving the Sri Lankan military war-time powers, police arrested 40 suspects, including the driver of a van allegedly used by suicide bombers involved in deadly Easter bombings and the owner of a house where some of them lived, officials said.
Sri Lanka’s president gave the military a wider berth to detain and arrest suspects — powers that were used during the 26-year civil war but withdrawn when it ended in 2009.
The death toll from Sunday’s attacks rose to 310, police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said.
On Tuesday, which President Maithripala Sirisena declared a day of mourning, Sri Lankan authorities planned to brief foreign diplomats and receive assistance from the FBI and other foreign intelligence-gathering agencies after officials disclosed Monday that warnings had been received weeks ago of the possibility of an attack by the radical Muslim group blamed for the bloodshed.
The article mentions the word “Muslim” twice more – talking about how oppressed they are.
All the bombers were Sri Lankans, but authorities said they strongly suspected foreign links, Senaratne said.
Also unclear was a motive. The history of Buddhist-majority Sri Lanka, a country of 21 million including large Hindu, Muslim and Christian minorities, is rife with ethnic and sectarian conflict.
In the 26-year civil war, the Tamil Tigers, a powerful rebel army known for using suicide bombers, was finally crushed by the government in 2009 but had little history of targeting Christians. Anti-Muslim bigotry fed by Buddhist nationalists has swept the country recently, but there is no history of Islamic militancy. Its small Christian community has seen only scattered incidents of harassment.
It is going to be really, really hard to do the standard “oh the Moslems did it because of oppression” narrative here.
They do this narrative when they bomb us in the West – “oh they did that because we did wars in the Middle East.” And that is something people can logically follow. In fact, I’m not even going to say that there couldn’t be a valid point there.
But Sri lanka is 70% Buddhist, 10% Moslem and 8% Christian. The Buddhists are the ruling body, obviously. As the AP says, any of this alleged “Islamophobia” is being done by the Buddhist ruling class – not a tiny minority of Christians.
So there cannot be any political reason for mass-bombing Christians in their churches on the holiest day of the year. There can be no other reason than pure hatred for Christianity.
This is an extremely uncomfortable situation for the narrative, which is why they are attempting to downplay it so aggressively in the media.
The message here is that Christians are not safe anywhere in the world.
Firstly, there is no chance that Sri Lankan Moslems planned this operation, which had to have involved more than 100 people. It is obvious that it was planned by some of Trump’s very good friends in the Gulf. There is no evidence of that yet, other than that the Sri Lankan government has determined that they had “outside funding,” but it is self-evident.
It was probably done at least in part as revenge for Brenton Tarrant.
And they wanted to send a message by targeting an obscure Christian minority in an obscure country, in order to make it clear that this is a global war and no one is safe.
This destroys the idea that you can bring in a few million Moslems and that these are “safe numbers,” and that you don’t have anything to worry about, and if you do worry, that you are driven by pure hatred for the color of the skin. This proves that any amount of Moslems is an extensional threat to any non-Moslem population.
Right now, it looks like the media is having great success in covering this up, making this about “random violence” by a “local group” against “Easter Worshippers.”
But it certainly ups the ante, regardless of how successful they are in downplaying it.
Because this is only the beginning.
Things are going to get weird.
