These are the laws that they are trying to force through at the federal level: laws that allow for the FBI to come to your home and take your guns from you because you used colorful language.
And if you can have your guns taken for saying “if I were attacked, I’d defend myself,” you can have your guns taken for more or less anything at all.
These statements are not illegal. This is not a threat. He is not being charged with a crime. The federal government just went and took his guns because they didn’t like what he said.
A former Marine who said at a protest that he would “slaughter” Antifa members in self-defense, if attacked, recently had his five weapons confiscated by the FBI, according to reports.
The temporary seizure came through the use of Oregon’s “red flag” law, which allows law enforcement agencies and family members to seek a court order to have weapons taken away from an individual viewed as potentially violent. Such laws are often opposed by supporters of Second Amendment gun rights.
The former Marine, Shane Kohfield, 32, was not charged with any crime, but surrendered five guns, including an AR-15 rifle, according to Phil Lemman, Oregon’s acting deputy state court administrator, the Washington Examiner reported.
The action was reportedly prompted by remarks Kohfield made in public during a demonstration outside the home of Portland, Ore., Mayor Ted Wheeler in August, the Oregonian/OregonLive reported.
“If Antifa gets to the point where they start killing us, I’m going to kill them next,” Kohfield told a crowd, according to the Oregonian. “I’d slaughter them, and I have a detailed plan on how I would wipe out Antifa.”
Kohfield previously wrote to U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, a former Navy SEAL, to share his concern about Antifa and voice his support for having the group declared a terrorist organization, a step that President Trump has considered.
He made the statements in July, but the guns were not taken from him until August, presumably as a response to the unlicensed ICE agent deporting all those Mexicans at the El Paso Walmart, which took place on August 3rd.
Kohfield was also sent to a mental hospital, though it is unclear if this was forced or if he went voluntarily.
Kohfield was also admitted to a veterans hospital in Portland and spent 20 days there. Though he was not charged with a crime, he was barred from participating in the August protests organized by the far-right group Proud Boys in Portland that drew counterprotests from antifa.
Kohfield told the Oregonian he understood why he was taken to a local hospital and prohibited from attending the protests, but he insisted he did not plan to harm anyone.
“I looked unhinged,” Kohfield said. “I looked dangerous and have the training to be dangerous.”
The FBI refused to comment on Kohfield’s case.
This guy is obviously dumb. He thinks Antifa is a real thing, rather than an FBI operation, and he thinks the Zionist cyclops Dan Crenshaw is going to do something about anything between sessions of deepthroating Bibi Netanyahu.
The lad’s heart is in the right place, of course, he just doesn’t know what’s going on.
If he did know what’s going on, maybe he would have been more careful with his use of language, and understand that Antifa ARE cops, and that any comments made about them are the same as making comments about cops, because they have the same protections.
But he is the first victim of the politicalization of red flag laws in the era of the swoopening. So no one had any idea that something like this was going to happen.
Honestly, I would have expected them to wait until the federal laws get passed to start using them for political purposes like this. But Trump backed off of that, and I guess they’re not going to go through until there’s a Democrat president, so the Feds have decided to start using local laws to oppress white people.
It’s all so tiresome.
